They’re grill beginner-friendly, easy to make, and fun to share with a collection of our favourite toppers like homemade salsa, sliced jalapeños, and cheese. The combination of tender, marinated steak and smoky grilled vegetables creates a mouthwatering dish that everyone will love. Perfect for gatherings, these fajitas bring people together over a delicious and interactive meal that’s sure to be a hit at any summer event.

What you need:

  • 3 pounds flap, skirt, or flank steak
  • 1 onion
  • 2 red, yellow, or orange bell peppers
  • 2 tablespoons of your favorite oil
  • 12 corn or flour tortillas
  • Your favourite toppings (some options we love are pico de gallo, a mix of cheese, guacamole, cilantro, and fresh lime)


  1. Preheat. Fire up the grill and preheat high heat (450 degrees F). While your gas grill preheats, place a basket on the grill to preheat.
  2. Season the meat to make it delicious. Coat the onions and peppers in the oil and then season with your preferred meat seasoner. Next, season the steak with the remaining seasoner.
  3. Grill. Place the onions and peppers into the preheated grill basket. Put the seasoned steak directly on the grill grates. Leave the lid open on the grill and cook until the steak reaches your preferred doneness (PROTIP: 125 degrees F for rare, 135 degrees F for medium rare, or 145 degrees for medium). Remove the peppers and onions when they are slightly charred and softened. Allow the steak to rest for 5 minutes to get the juiciest.
  4. Grill the tortillas. Place a 12-inch cast iron skillet on the grill. Place a tortilla in the skillet and cook until just warmed through. Repeat until you have heated all the tortillas. Wrap the tortillas in foil to keep them warm.
  5. Slice the steak very thinly. Place the steak and vegetables in the skillet.
